Senior Coach-Virtual Education Specialist

I am a Teacher, Virtual Education Evangelist,Professional Development, Life Long Learner

I just recently retired from 34 years of teaching and instructional technology and formed my own company, Lawrie Consulting. I received my undergraduate degree from Indiana University and Masters Degree in Education from Butler University. I am also a graduate and was a facilitator for the CIESC Teacher Leadership Academy. In my 35 years of teaching, 21 years were spent in the classroom teaching Biology, Science, Health and Physical Education and the last 14 teaching in the Virtual environment, working with both teachers and students.

I created the first virtual school and class for the State of Indiana in 1999 and just help launch Achieve Virtual Education Academy, which is Indiana’s first full time online school. I am the virtual education specialist for Achieve Virtual and the Physical Education teacher, an adjunct instructor for the IUPUI School of Education, national presenter, My Big Campus Senior Coach and virtual education evangelist. I am a founding member of iNACOL and also involved in ISTE, Future of Education, Global Education, Skype Educators, and is a recipient of the IPL Golden Apple Award and Creative Biology Teacher of the Year.

I am life long learner and have a strong comment to see each student and teacher succeed. I spend hours in My Big Campus each day in the professional learning communities. (PLN) I am amazed at how much there is to learn and I love the information by experts in their fields being pushed to me. No more searching. On a personal note, I am a mother of three amazing adults. Libby’s daughter Nikki (Miami of Ohio), is a Biology/Chemistry teacher, Kevin (Purdue University), is a Graphic Designer and Nate (Yale University), played 6 years in the NFL. I have been blessed with a son-in-law Brian (Principal), and two daughter-in-laws Amanda (Teacher) and Smaranda (Asian-Pacific Leadership Program). I have 6 amazing grandchildren that I love to take swimming, to the beach and they are always at my house playing the Wii, xBox, iPad and iPhone. My husband Chris just retired from 35 years in education and is still coaching football.

Want to talk about My Big Campus? I am always ready to share ways to integrate it in a way to improve student achievement.
