I'm a third-generation educator with teaching and administrative experience from primary through university. I serve as Chief Academic Officer of Renaissance Learning.

I received my Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Longwood University and also hold a Doctor of Education from the University of Delaware. Dr. Robin Fogarty and I co-authored Informative Assessment: When It’s Not About a Grade which is published by Corwin Press in both English and Arabic.

My most recent work has been focused on formative assessment, new standards in both the US and the UK, and the effective use of learning progressions to inform both instruction and assessment.
