Program Specialist RSP Demonstration Teacher
San Bernardino City USD

Rosa Hernandez has been working in San Bernardino City Unified School District since 2006.  She has taught 6th-8th grade Special Day Class (SDC) for students with mild/moderate disabilities and has been in her current teaching assignment as an elementary RSP Teacher since 2012. She services students in both a pull-out delivery service model as well as in an inclusive co-teach model. Her desire to help others has allowed her to support teachers as a coach and mentor in both the district’s Onboarding Program and the Teacher Induction Program (TIP).  She joined the Demonstration Teacher Program in 2017 and has had the opportunity of opening her classroom to teachers looking for best practices in a special education setting as well as presenting at various district seminars and trainings.  Her “WHY” as an educator is to make a lasting impact,  an impact on the life and education of students as well as educators who seek to grow and develop their professional practice.

Rosa considers herself a learner each day, and is eager to continue developing to improve her own teaching practices.  Outside of working with students in the classroom, she has a passion for sharing her knowledge and expertise with her colleagues. Rosa serves SBCUSD in various capacities, her greatest passion is supporting and guiding educators who are seeking to grow in their profession.
