My name is Dr. Jolene McGarrah (she, her).  I have been in education for 18 years.  In that time I have found that there is still so much to learn about our craft. If this is your first year or thirtieth year as an educator, there is always something you can learn from others to start, refresh, or reignite your passion for teaching. Some things that I have learned or have been reminded of recently:
You are enough - in all you are and all you do. You are exactly where you are supposed to be, exactly when you are supposed to be there.
Keep moving forward - personally and professionally, find ways to do one thing at a time to move yourself in the direction you want to go.
Take the time to set up systems now to lighten the load later.
Take care of yourself - it's not a suggestion, it's an imperative. If you break down because you are not taking care of your whole self, you cannot be there for others.
Beg, borrow, and steal - people have different talents, use those talents to help each other. Look for resources that are already created.
Share the load - Surround your self with people who you can work with in planning. It is often difficult to step past the pride and fear we have to work with others, but it benefits our students in the end.

I look forward to connecting with you and learning from your experiences so we can all be the best version of ourselves for our students.
