Barby Rolland has been working in San Bernardino City USD for 10 years. She started as a Special Day Class Teacher and transitioned as an RSP Demonstration Teacher. Upon her tenure, she was recognized for receiving the Board of Education Excellence Award and Outstanding Technology Educator at the district. She was also a program specialist for the Continuous Improvement Division with the intent of building the capacity of school teams in implementing a plan to improve student outcomes that are aligned with the site's goals, actions, and services. She then became the Coordinator for the Special Education Department, where she managed teams and programs in teacher clarity, legally defensible IEPs, and data-driven student outcomes through coaching cycles of improvement. Currently, she is the Assistant Director and provides system-based instructional and compliance support at the District level - implementation and monitoring of data points of department initiatives, compliance school site visits, intradepartmental collaboration/communication, CDE compliance, and improvement monitoring/SELPA Plan.
